The National Netball Team Royal Bees Thursday made their way to Singapore to compete in the Asian Netball Championship 2022 from Thursday to September 11.
Heading the contingent were Brunei Netball Association (BNA) President Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Hajah Wan Shahlimar binti Haji Suhaili as well as honorary secretaries, coach, primary care and BNA committee.
In addition, Md Asmawi Sulaiman was chosen as an umpire for the championship by the Asian Championship 2022.
The 10-day championship will finish with qualification matches for the Netball World Cup 2023, which will take place in South Africa.
The Royal Bees’ preliminary opponents will be Malaysia and Taiwan. Should the Royalbees advance, they will compete with other countries in the second round, semi-finals, playoffs and finals.
Royal Bees is coached by newly appointed coach Nur Hafizah binti Haji Abdul Sidek.
The coach shared that one of her greatest goals is for the squad to adhere to the routine they have been following, and she anticipates that the girls have been progressing.
“Sticking to our netball strategies that we have been working on relentlessly in training and exhibition matches will play a major key in our performance in the championship,” she said.
The Royal Bees are set to play their first match against Malaysia, scheduled for 5pm tomorrow.
