Organised in collaboration with the ASEAN University Network on Culture and the Arts (AUN-CA), the film festival is holding online screenings until April 9

Three short films produced by Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) students will represent the Sultanate in the Asia Rising 2022 organised by the National University of Singapore (NUS) Centre for the Arts.

Organised in collaboration with the ASEAN University Network on Culture and the Arts (AUN-CA), the film festival is holding online screenings until April 9.

This year’s Asia Rising, themed ‘Slow Connection’, features 14 student short films from five universities in Brunei, the Philippines, and Singapore.

The three short films – Not Toaster, Crescendo and Sonder – were produced by Design and Creative Industries (DCI) students of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, UBD.

Sonder became the first animated short film made by DCI students to be screened in a regional film festival. Not Toaster recently won the Best Short Film Award (10-20 minutes category), while Crescendo won Halim Ashari the Best Director Award, in the 4th Prism UBD Short Film Festival in December 2021.

Those interested can go to the Asia Rising 2022 link (http://bit.ly/asiarising2022) to register.

NUS organisers will send a playlist link to the registered email addresses for viewing.

In April 2021, Bunga, Suara, and Anak Ayah represented UBD in the inaugural Asia Rising 2021, which featured 10 student films from UBD, De La Salle University, and NUS.
