A probe has been launched following the discovery of bogus Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) social media accounts offering personal financial loans to the public.
The social media accounts under @Ministry_loan_Brunei on Instagram and Ministry Personal Loan Brunei on Facebook do not belong to the MoFE. The ministry has on no occasion offered personal financial loans to the public, the MoFE said in a press statement.
The public is advised to contact the MoFE should they come across suspicious or unauthentic information regarding to the ministry.
Additionally, the public is reminded that disseminating false information is a criminal offence that can lead to a fine of up to BND3,000, three months’ imprisonment or both under Section 34, Public Order Act, Chapter 148.
