His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam attended a Majlis Kesyukuran in conjunction with Their Majesties’ Diamond Jubilee Wedding Anniversary yesterday, organised by State Dignitaries.

The ceremony was held at the Royal Berkshire, Tarindak D’Polo, Jerudong.

The Royal Wedding Ceremony between His Majesty and Her Majesty took place on July 29, 1965, in which this year marks the Diamond Jubilee Wedding Anniversary of Their Majesties.

Also in attendance were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi’atul ‘Adawiyyah binti Pengiran Haji Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna; and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam.

The arrival of Their Majesties and members of the royal family at the Royal Berkshire was greeted by Co-Chairs of the Majlis Kesyukuran Committee – Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar; Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman; Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof; Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar; Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah; State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned; and Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Paduka Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos; as well as their spouses.

Their Majesties were invited to sign a commemorative parchment before being presented with a Diamond Jubilee Wedding Anniversary cake, as well as the presentation of a pesambah from State Dignitaries and a pesambah from the Group of Wives of Cabinet Ministers, deputy ministers, permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries and associate members.

The Doa Kesyukuran was then recited by the state mufti, followed by a speech from the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II.

The ceremony was enlivened with a special lecture titled, ‘Jubli Intan Perkahwinan Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Raja Isteri: Satu Kurnia Nikmat Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala’ delivered by the state mufti, which highlighted – among other things – that the Diamond Jubilee Royal Wedding Anniversary must be appreciated based on Al-Quran and the Hadith, as it is seen as the reward for the faith and benevolence of Their Majesties, who enjoy offering charitable contributions to citizens in need.

The ceremony also included a banquet, which was accompanied by Nasyid performances by students from the Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, as well as a special video screening highlighting the Diamond Jubilee Royal Wedding Anniversary.

At the end of the Majlis Kesyukuran, Their Majesties received junjung ziarah from the State Dignitaries, providing the opportunity for them to express heartfelt congratulations to Their Majesties in commemoration of this momentous occasion.

Among the State Dignitaries present to commemorate the ceremony were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria; Cabinet ministers; Chief Syarie Judge; Chief Justice of the Supreme Court; members of the Privy Council; deputy ministers; members of the Council of Succession; members of the Islamic Religious Council; Syariah High Court Judges; High Court Judges; permanent secretaries from the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Finance and Economy, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs; as well as district officers.
