The Sultanate on Tuesday recorded 2,012 COVID-19 cases, of which 2,001 cases are results of the antigen rapid testing and 11 cases from 244 RT-PCR laboratory tests conducted in the past 24 hours. No COVID-19 fatality was reported in the past 24 hours.

This was said by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at a press conference on Tuesday.

Brunei’s COVID-19 cases continued to spike last week with the average daily rate of infection at 1,667 cases. A total of 65,240 ART results were uploaded to the BruHealth app in the week of which 17.8 per cent were positive results.

He shared that the number of cases in Categories 4 and 5 have remained low. Two cases are in Category 5 requiring treatment in the intensive care unit, while three cases in Category 4 requiring respiratory assistance and are under close monitoring.

Similar to the previous week, he noted that over 99 per cent of the cases within the past week have been categorised as Category 1 or 2 and do not require hospital care.

On the vaccination rate, the minister said, “The number continues to increase, with 73.7 per cent of the citizens and residents having received the third dosage, while 4.2 per cent have received the fourth shot.

“Meanwhile, a total of 77.2 per cent of children aged five to 11 have received the second dose, and 51.3 per cent of adolescents aged 12 to 17 with the third dose.

The minister also reminded the public to upload their ART results – positive or negative – onto the BruHealth app to assist the MoH in monitoring the situation.
